playwright, novelist, poet, essayist and painter. A prolific writer who often

Simón Bolívar

RIUS
Eduardo Humberto del Río García (June 20, 1934 – August 8, 2017), better
known by his pen name Rius, was a Mexican intellectual, political cartoonist and
writer born in Zamora, Michoacán.
One of the most popular Mexican cartoonists, Rius has written over a
hundred books that remain widely popular, especially amongst his Mexican
readers. Rius was a fierce political activist, and his progressive and left-wing
point of view is often present in his writings, accompanied by a strong
criticism about neoliberal Mexican doctrines, US Government policies, and the
Catholic Church. He used to be an open advocate of the Cuban revolution as in
Cuba for Beginners and a strong Soviet bloc sympathizer until the end of the

Ayatollah Khomeini
Ruhollah Khomeini (24 September 1902 – 3 June 1989), known in the Western
world as Ayatollah Khomeini, was an Iranian Shia Muslim religious leader,
philosopher, revolutionary, and politician. He was the founder of the Islamic
Republic of Iran and the leader of the 1979 Iranian Revolution that saw the
overthrow of the 2500 years of Persian monarchy and Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the
last Shah of Iran. Following the revolution, Khomeini became the country's
Supreme Leader, a position created in the constitution of the Islamic Republic
as the highest-ranking political and religious authority of the nation, which he
held until his death. He was succeeded by Ali Khamenei on 4 June 1989. (Quoted

Jean Cabut (13 January 1938 – 7 January 2015), known by the pen-name Cabu, was a French comic strip artist and caricaturist. He died in the January 2015 shooting attack on the Charlie Hebdo newspaper offices. Cabut was a staff cartoonist and shareholder at Charlie Hebdo.
